French Apple Pie

Apple pies are usually not made the same way in France. The main difference with US apple pies is that there's only a single crust (at the bottom). As a consequence, the apples are also often arranged in a more organized manner. Based on those remarks, you can figure out how to make one by yourself, or follow this easy recipe.
How many servings? 4-8 people
How much time to prepare? 1 hour and 10 minutes
How much time to cook or bake? 40 minutes-1 hour
Ingredients:
- 1 pie crust (uncooked) -- recipe here
- 5-7 apples
- 2 dessert spoons of sugar
- 1 dessert spoon of butter
- 1/2 lemon juice
- Water
Recipe:
Garnish a pie dish with the pie crust (uncooked), and prick it. Refrigerate until using it.
Peal three of the apples and dice them. In a sauce pan, put the diced apples, the lemon juice, and 1/4 cup (measuring cup) of water, and the sugar. Cook on very low heat for about 40 minutes-1 hour, or until they can be mached with a fork. While cooking, stir and add water in small amounts when the water has evaporated. When the apple sauce is made, spread it into the pie crust.
Peal and slice the remaining apples and arrange the slices in circles onto the apple sauce.
Melt the butter and mix in the sugar. Pour over the apples.
Bake for 40-60 minutes, 360°F (185°C), pre-heated oven.
Enjoy warm or cold.
More:
- The secret for a delicious apple pie is to use several types of apples in the same pie. For example, alternate slices of granny smith and pink lady, and make the apple sauce with goldens.
- What about adding cinnamon in the apple sauce if you like the flavor?
- If you indulge in fat-and-sweet things, have your slice of apple pie with ice cream or sour cream!
